This is another gallery of some of my favorite miscellaneous shots. These have always been what I consider some of my best shots. Click on them to get the gallery/full screen view.
- The waterfront along the St. Mary’s River is one of my favorite places to just go looking for things to photograph. Thse tugs at twilight turned out to be a gem of a photo.
- Driving back from Traverse City, I saw this sunset at Elk Rapids and pulled over to get the shot. To this day it is one of the most spectacular sunsets I’ve ever seen.
- This is the train that runs to Canada across the International Railroad Bridge. It carries different cargo including logs. It can often be seen along the Mackinac Trail south of the Sault towards Rudyard. This picture was used for the cover of the U.P. Reader.
- This eagle was perched at the top of a White Pine along the shore of Lake Superior near AuTrain. It was at one of the scenic pullouts. He watched me as I walked towards him, shooting pictures all the time. He just stayed there and posed for about 20 minutes until he finally became bored with me.
- I’ve always felt this was one of the more fun pictures I’ve taken. This Buddhist Monk was visiting the bridge, when he pulled out a phone and started to take a couple of selfies. It was a wonderfully humanizing moment for these enigmatic individuals.
- These grow quite abundantly on St. Helena Island in the Straits of Mackinac. These are of the Orchid family, called Lady Slippers, and grow throughout the U.P.
- This was a nice serene scene on the way into Craig Lake Wilderness State Park. Nice subtle autumn colors coming in.
- While on an evening sunset cruise of Pictured Rocks, I was able to snap this nice shot of Spray Falls with those golden sunset hours. This picture is a touch shakey because it was shot on a boat.
- This is the old Mackinac Point Lighthouse in Mackinaw City. I was able to find it fog enshrouded so it gave it more of an eerie look.
- This is an old abandoned mine shaft near Painesdale in Copper Country. I was on a trip with a friend that grew up there and was showing me all the hidden places. This was one of them.
