This is a gallery of pictures that are simply nice shots. I didn’t take them for any particular project or book, these are just nice Michigan U.P. Shots. Enjoy! Click on them for full pictures.
- I was just riding around in the car with my camera looking for fall shots. I drove into Rotary Park in Sault Ste. Marie and there was this guy fishing across the St. Mary’s River bayou. I thought it was cool watching him fish so I took a few shots. This is the best one.
- This is taken in August next to the Soo Locks. I saw this ship pulling out of the locks and had to get out and take the shot. I got up to the fence and there must have been a fresh mosquito hatch. They were swarming me and making it as difficult for me as they could, which was considerable. I was very grateful to get back in the car.
- This is an icebreaker in the spring doing what it does best. This was near Sugar Island in the St. Mary’s River. These are amazing to watch and I get to see my share of them here in the Sault.
- This was taken in the evening near the Mackinac Bridge. I was taking pictures of the bridge and I was so focused on that that I had no idea he was there. I looked up for a minute, turned and looked. He was right in front of me. He was my surprise for the day.
- This bridge is in Mackinac County. This is at the Carp River Campground north of St. Ignace. This is a beautiful place, especially in the fall. The river is a favorite fishing spot. I frequently stop here just for the view.
- Spring Blossoms and Freighter along Portage Avenue in Sault Ste. Marie. This is another one of those shots I caught as I was driving around, just looking at things. We went down a side street and came back with this view in front of us. I had to jump out and get it.
- Cruising the backroads near Cedarville, I came across this old homestead. It was a little foggy which gave it an air of eerieness. Just like an apparition out of the past, it seem a bit unreal. The old place has been torn down since.
- I shot this at a friends place out on Neebish Island. This is the passage between Neebish Island and Sugar Island in the St. Mary’s River. I like this section of river. It feeds my imagination. For me it has a sort of “Tom Sawyer” feel to it.
- This is Round Island which sits across from Mackinac Island in the Straits of Mackinac. I took this from the top of the Round Island Lighthouse. I was out there during an open house and had a tour of the light station. The island itself is a publically owned wilderness area.
